Spend this Summer in Davis Park and you will
learn why these Fire Island's sandy beaches
were ranked in the TOP TEN most beautiful beaches
 IN THE WORLD
! It consists of miles and miles
of pure, white sand, with nothing but beach
grass, and other assorted plants holding it all
 together. The community has professional
lifeguards on duty all Season long. You can
frequently see deer actually walking on the
boardwalks,no longer afraid of people.
Davis Park is the last Eastern-Most Beach
Community on Long Island's Fire Island.
It borders the breath-taking Watch Hill which
is a National Park Beach and Wild-Life Preserve.
Davis Park has no roads, no cars, and all of
its buildings are connected by wooden boardwalks.

Davis Park Has Boardwalks Instead Of Roads

Imagine Cape Cod or the Hamptons, with no roads or cars, accessible only by boat. That is Davis Park!
It's only 90 minutes East of Midtown Manhattan, but a "world away" from the hustle and bustle of the
City. Davis Park has a Fire Department, a Post Office, a General Store, snack bar, public restrooms
(with showers), a restaurant and a famous club called The Casino which is the ONLY Ocean-Front
bar/club on Fire Island (pictured above). This club usually rocks with live bands on Summer Week-Ends. It is the only
place of its kind on Fire Island. There is an outside deck right on the ocean and an inside bar/dance
floor. There is also a casual dining restaurant, again, right on the Ocean. It is a beautiful spot to
have a relaxing drink, dine, talk with friends, or just watch the sunset. The laid-back beach life
style attracts both singles and families. It is a great place to bring the kids as there are playgrounds
and a public beach. Also, Watch Hill, which is less than a ten minute walk on the beach, holds free
craft making sessions for children as well as free guided nature walk tours where the children can
learn about the wildlife and vegetation that is unique to Fire Island's Eco- System.

The crowd at Davis Park is
divided into 3 groups,
boaters, day-trippers, and
"landlubbers" (those who stay
in the many beach houses that
are either rented or owner
occupied.) Boaters tend to be
family oriented, as do those
who occupy the houses.
Day-trippers are mixed. Davis
Park is operated by the Town
of Brookhaven. Most visitors to
Davis Park come by a ferry which
is operated out of Patchogue.
You can also access the island
by your own boat and dock at
Davis Park's town-operated
Marina, which has over 100 boat
slips, power and water for
vessels from 16 feet up to
about 50 feet. However, this
dock is very popular and it
fills up very fast on Summer
Week-Ends. So if you plan to
visit using your own boat leave
early in the day or you won't get
a boat slip. If you are planning
a week-end stay your best bet would be
to use the regular ferry service to Davis Park from the Sandspit Marina in Patchogue. By train take the Long
Island Railroad to the Patchogue Station. Take a cab, or walk, (about 15 mins) down Cedar to the Bay. Right
on Brightwood Street. Ferry Terminal is at the Town of Brookhaven, Sandspit Marina. Ample parking for cars,
reasonable parking fees.
